Eavestrough Cleaning

Cleaning a Rain Gutter

Why is eavestrough cleaning important?

Eavestrough & Gutter Cleaning

How often should I clean my eavestroughs?

In London, Ontario and the surrounding area we are known as the forest city. This means lots of beautiful trees to provide a park like setting and shade throughout the summer... unfortunately this also means lots of leaves, buds, sticks, branches, etc. We recommend getting your eavestroughs cleaned at the very minimum once per year, and if you live in an area that has a lot of trees even twice. As soon as your downspouts are clogged rain starts spilling over the edge and can cause flooding, water damage, and more.

When is the best time to clean my eavestroughs?

Some people swear eaves have to be cleaned every fall and others insist it has to happen in the spring. In reality, there is no best time to clean eavestroughs. As long as they are done on a consistent basis, and any troubled areas are inspected thoroughly, your property should be in good standing. We typically clean several thousand homes throughout the year and do 40% in the spring, 20% in the summer, and 40% in the fall. Keep in mind, if you have a lot of trees on your property, the best course of action would be to get a spring and fall clean.

Is there anything I can do to protect my eavestroughs?

Yes! Leaf covers, gutter covers, gutter guards, leaf filters, all these names basically mean the same thing: a perforated cover that you can put on top of your eavestroughs to block any debris from clogging up the downspouts. Unfortunately, some companies around London provide a false promise and state you never have to clean your eavestroughs again if you install these - which is an outright lie. This form of protection for your eavestrough simply prolongs how often you need to clean things, but they still need to be cleaned every few years as smaller debris gets through, and sometimes the surface layer of the guards become jammed up overtime.
